any comments that we can share about the importance of fundamental relationship between animals as an organism and the habitats like the soil?

Hey, check out the necklace I made out of crinoids and fossils I found here...according to a geological map, these are 325 million years old, I think...anyone a fossil lover or know anything about fossils?

I know what you mean about people not having the slightest clue or care. I see habitats being destroyed daily around here. People buy acres of beautiful wooded habitats and then raze them to the ground. It breaks my heart, really. We have raccoons, skunks, coyotes, deer, 'possums, and hundreds of birds and such that depend on those areas. But people don't want them. I think it is silly how the average person responds to wildlife...when a coyoye is seen in towns it actually makes headlines...people freaking and calling for hunters to take 'em out. News right now is about east Texas where a fellow has purchased 140 acres for a Tiger Reguge and Rehab center, but the people in that area are fighting it because they think they'll escape and kill everyone. SO SILLY! Well, we fought so hard as humans to become "non-animals" and therefore, not part of Nature, so...here we are! It is so very frustrating. I have left my little 13 acres alone, but only a pocket of critters can survive here. :'(

Studied soils a long time as a part of geology with an interest in farming, also getting handy at restoration of habitats in arid zones, a lot to that, not all situations allow you to improve things.

I feel that my culture doesn't have a clue why it's so important to preserve habitat, even small ones, so educating them is big on my list and part of why I joined here.

I live in an interesting little town called Mineral Wells in Texas and would love to understand more about the things I see here.

What kinds of topics will we be discusing in this group?
